VENUE: RKKK 2, KUALA LUMPUR HIGH COURT
PETITION NO: WA-18-2137-12/2018
PETITIONER: ZARRA SOFEA ZAHARI
If it pleases you My Lady, Alex Chang Huey Wah, appear for your humble Petitioner, My Learned Friend Mohd Fitri Bin Sadarudin SFC is appearing for Chambers, I am most grateful that my learned Miss Sharon Koh Chin Ling is appearing for the Bar Council and the State Bar.
My Lady, I seek leave to say a few words to introduce Your Petitioner, ZARRA SOFEA.
Your Petitioner was born in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and raised in a small town called Bahau. She is the one and only child of her proud parents Mr. Zahari Ismail, and Mdm. Julie Yoon.
I crave leave for her Mother to be introduced.
The second one and only child today My Lady.
Growing up in a town far away from the city and being tasked to leave her hometown at the tender age of 18 to pursue her studies was one of the toughest paths that your Petitioner had to go through.
She could still remember clearly when she first stepped into the Taylors College, Subang Jaya, everything seemed new to her – the people, the accommodation, the environment.
However, she lived on by a motto “We generate fears while we sit. We overcome them by action”, which then kept her going in pursuing her legal career. Her desire to practice law stemmed from her passion for justice to be achieved by everyone in the society.
The Petitioner read laws at the Cardiff University. She then returned to Malaysia and pursued the Certificate in Legal Practice, which she completed in 2018.
Your Petitioner commenced her pupillage in Messrs. Dennis Nik & Wong, under the tutelage of my learned friend Mr. Rajvinder Singh. During her time at Messrs. Dennis Nik & Wong, Your Petitioner was exposed to the legal intricacies of civil and corporate litigation under the guidance of the partners and other lawyers of the firm.
My Lady,
On this special day, Your Petitioner would like to thank a few people:-
- First and foremost, Your Petitioner wishes to thank her parents, grandparents and the Yoon family, especially her mother for her unconditional love, encouragement and financial support, without which she would not have been able to stand here proudly to be admitted to the Malaysian Bar. Your Petitioner’s mother is her biggest inspiration to pursue law. No words can express how thankful your Petitioner is to them for their sacrifices that nurtured the Petitioner into the person she is today.
- Throughout her 9 months of full dedication and commitment to the firm, she would like to record her gratitude and appreciation not only to her pupil master, but also to every other partners, associates and her “pupil” mates for their guidance and invaluable advice.
- The Petitioner would like to thank all her good friends from high school to university, in particular Siew Li and NLA6 for sharing her tears and laughters since her legal adventure started. Besides, the Petitioner would also like to thank Cho Ying and Kayleigh for being there throughout her CLP.
- Last but not least, the Petitioner would like to thank Aaron Ter for giving her constant support throughout this journey.
With this My Lady, I verily believe that the Petitioner is a fit and proper to be admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. I believe that the Petitioner’s papers are in order and that my learned friends have no objections to this motion.
I therefore humbly pray for an order in terms.
[AFTER THE ORDER IS GRANTED BY THE COURT]
I am very much obliged.
Mr. Rajvinder Singh tenders his apologies for not being able to attend the admission proceedings today, I crave leave to for this honour to robe Your Petitioner
