Petition No.: WA-18-716-05/2016
Date: 17.5.2017
Before Her Ladyship Dato’ Nik Hasmat Nik Mohamad
If it pleases you My Lady, Alex Chang appear for your humble Petitioner. My learned friends for the various bodies have already been introduced.
My Lady,
Your Petitioner, Eldarius Yong Zhen Jie hails from Kuching, Sarawak, born in 1993. He is second child and Eldest son of his proud parents Louis Yong and Mimi Goh, his elder sister KIYOMI is also here together with them.
My Lady
I crave leave for his parents to be introduced.
My Lady
Usually I will meet the Petitioners’ parents during this solemn proceeding, however, for this petitioner, I must declare that I met his parents first as fellow colleagues at the Rotary Club before getting to know Your Petitioner…
Your Petitioner read Laws at the University of Northumbria became a member of the Honourable Society of the Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the English Bar in 2015. In 2016, your Petitioner came to my chambers as an attachment student and thereafter I recommended him to join Messsrs Chellam Wong, as I believe my learned and good friend Mark Ho Esq. is a better master than myself.
I must take this opportunity to quote Your Petitioner about my learned friend Mark. Mark is a strong believer of the age old maxim “Respect the Law, Fear the Mother-in-Law”, which is why my dear friend Mark is one of the most eligible bachelors at the Kuala Lumpur Bar, looking for a mother in law to look after him.
My Lady
It was your Petitioner’s dream to assisting the Judiciary in achieving justice from a very young age, the rest is history. Apart from the Law, your Petitioner is an enthusiast in the sport of badminton and golf.
My Lady
On this momentous occasion, your Petitioner would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude towards the many people that have assisted him. In particular, his parents Louis Yong and Mimi Goh, who have been his source of love and pillar of support. They have been with him every step of the way, providing word of wisdoms and “rotan” whips that had shaped him into the person standing before Your Ladyship today.
Louis does not believe in “spare the Rod, spoil the child…”
The Petitioner would like to thank his Pupil Master Mark Ho Esq and all the personnel in Messrs Chellam Wong for showing him the patience when errors were made, the acknowledgement when work was done and the practical insights to Law in the real world.
He would also like to thank his friends and family, in particular, his cohort in university “Red Bull”, who walked hand in hand with the Petitioner in his journey to be a member of this esteemed profession. Those late nights in the library spent together studying law and completing assignments will be cherished.
My Lady, Abraham Lincoln once said “If you are absolutely determined to make a lawyer of yourself, the thing is already half done”.
My Lady, with the stroke of Your Ladyship’s pen, your petitioner’s dream of becoming a lawyer will be complete.
Your Petitioner vows to serve this honourable institution with passion and might. He is retained by my learned friend Mark and will continue his journey in Messrs Chellam Wong
I verily believe that the Petitioner is a fit and proper person to be admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. I also verily believe that all the papers are in order and there are no objections from my Learned Friends. Accordingly, I humbly pray for an order in terms.
ORDER
May I seek leave from this Honourable Court for my learned friend Mark Ho, the Petitioner’s Pupil Master, to robe your Petitioner.
L-R: Sister Kiyomi Yong, Catherine Foo (Ann of Jeffrey Yap Chee Wah, President Elect of Rotary Club Pudu), mother Mimi Goh, father Louis Yong (Past President of Rotary Club Kuching), Eldarius Yong, Mark Ho, Alex Chang & Aminaruddin.
