TIME : 9.00 A.M.
COURT : Kuala Lumpur High Court Special Powers Division 2
JUDGE : DATUK HAJAH AZIZAH BINTI HAJI NAWAWI
If it pleases you, My Lady, I appear for Your Humble Petitioner, My Learned Friend Madam Aisyaf Falina Abdullah SFC is appearing for Chambers and for this Petition I am most grateful that Miss Dipinder Kaur will appear for both the Bar and the State Bar.
Your Petitioner, Loh Wei Minn fondly known to her friends as Kayleigh and she was born in Subang Jaya. Your Petitioner is the second child of her parents, Mr. Loh Leong Siew and Madam Khor Mooi Kee. I crave leave for her father to be introduced. Unfortunately Your Petitioner’s mother is unable to attend today.
My Lady,
Your petitioner read laws at the University of Reading and graduated with First Class Honours in the year 2016.
I have not met many who has been conferred a first class degree… the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew is one of them. So I enquired from Your Petitioner how she did it.
Well My Lady, The secret is this: READING has two rows of shops, AND she does not know how many pubs there were… so a quiet place to study and earn your first class degree.
Your Petitioner then return to Malaysia and proceeded with a course to pursue the Certificate in Legal Practice. Your Petitioner then commenced her pupillage at Messrs Mah-Kamariyah & Philip Koh under my learned friend her pupil mistress, Madam Lim Lee.
During her pupillage, your Petitioner was lucky enough to be given a chance to have exposed to the workings of different areas of law such as corporate, litigation and conveyancing.
My Lady
Your Petitioner would like to acknowledge and thank her pillars of strength, her family, to whom she is indebted to for their love, encouragement and financial support every now and then. Her family is like a light house, guiding influencing her to become the person and lawyer she is today.
Your Petitioner’s mother would always remind her that integrity and good character are key to accomplishments in life.
It doesn’t matter if you have outstanding talents, without a good character, one cannot go very far.
this was well put by John Howe, “Character is power; it makes friends, draws patronage and support and opens the way to wealth, honour and happiness”.
Therefore, your Petitioner stands by her motto that by staying humble, working hard and be kind, with the support of her learned friends, her legal career will be a fruitful and rewarding one.
your Petitioner would also like to express her gratitude to her pupil mistress, Madam Lim Lee for her untiring guidance and support throughout her pupillage. To all the partners, associates, employees and colleagues of Messrs Mah-Kamariyah & Philip Koh a big thank you.
Last but not least, your Petitioner would like to specially thank her good friends, Miss Tan See Yee, Miss Ngeow Shu Ying, Miss Teo Jia Yin, Miss Teo Cho Ying and Miss Sofea for being a great listener to her concerns and most importantly, her food cravings.
My Lady,
I believe that your Petitioner is a fit and proper person to be admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, and that the papers are in order.
I also believe that my learned friends from the relevant bodies have no objections to this Petition. I therefore I humbly pray for an order in terms.
Order by the court.
I tender an apology on behalf of Madam Lim Lee as she I crave leave to robe your Petitioner.
Much obliged, My Lady.
