Admission to the Malaysian Bar (Long Call) Speech
Name:        DING MING SHU
Date:        December 2, 2011

Admission Speech of Mr DING MING SHU as an Advocate and
Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya

If it pleases you, My Lord

I, ALEX CHANG HUEY WAH, appear for the Petitioner, DING
MING SHU and my learned friends representing the Attorney
General, The Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar
Committee have already been introduced earlier.

Ms Deepinder Kaur will represent the Selangor bar instead of
the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee .

If it so pleases Your Lordship, may I say a few words to
introduce the Petitioner, DING MING SHU.

My Lord, the Petitioner was born  in Perak to Mr. Michael Ding
Yung Hua and the late  Madam Aik Sew Yik. The Petitioners'
parents were both dedicated teachers by profession.

My Lord, perhaps I should mention that Your Petitioner  was a
miracle  baby.  The  doctors said that Mr Mrs Ding,  should not
be able to conceive this  child.  So he is the  only child.

His story reminds me of  the 'Curious Case of Benjamin Button'
starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchette.

The Petitioner received his early education in ACS, Sitiawan.

Fishing is his hobby, I ask if he has found his mermaid, he said
with a confident of course, he told me,  it pays to have
patience,  his sweetheart is a fellow lawyer too.

The Petitioner later read law  at the University of Wales,
Aberystwyth in the  United Kingdom, a small coastal town in
Wales where there are more sheeps than homo sapiens.

The Petitioner subsequently completed the Certificate in Legal
Practice. The Petitioner then read and completed his pupilage
in the chambers of Messrs Yap & Company under the
guidance of his Master, Mr. Johnston Yap.

The Petitioner takes this opportunity to thank his family
members, and friends, for taking the time off their busy
schedules to be present here today.

Above all, the Petitioner would like to convey his utmost
gratitude to his parents as well as his stepmother for their
unwavering love and support throughout the years, to ensure
that the Petitioner had and will have  the best in life.  The
Petitioner would not be where he is today if not for their
undying love, understanding and sacrifices.

The Petitioner would also like to convey his heartfelt
appreciation to his master, Mr Johnston Yap for his invaluable
guidance, patience and advice. The Petitioner must thank his
superiors and colleagues for creating an enjoyable working
environment, in Yap & Company,  in particular, the Petitioner
would like record his gratitude to Ms. Pang Sy Fung and Mr.
David Yap

Further, The Petitioner would also like to record  his gratitude
to   to the Partners and  colleagues at Messrs HL Lee & Co
whom he  had the opportunity to work with during his four
months' attachment at the firm.

Last but not least, the Petitioner would like to thank all his
dedicated teachers, lecturers and tutors who has bestowed
invaluable knowledge to him throughout his studies.

My Lord, I verily believe that all cause papers are  in order and
that the Petitioner is a fit and proper person. I also believe that
the Attorney General, the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur
Bar Committee on behalf of the Selangor Bar Committee has
no objections.

Therefore, My Lord, I humbly pray for an Order in Terms.

(Relevant parties will say no objections and

Judge will give order)

Much obliged, My Lord

My Lord,   Mr Johnston Yap, tenders his apologies for not
being able to robe your Petitioner with Your Lordship's leave,
may I seek leave  to robe Your Petitioner.

Much obliged, My Lord
