The following notice is from the Bar Council dated 11 September 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To Members of the Malaysian Bar and pupils in chambers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Court-Related Matters During the Administrative Enhanced Movement\u00a0 Control Order (\u201cEMCO\u201d) in Alor Setar, Kedah <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We draw Members\u2019 attention to the\nannouncement by the Senior Minister (Security Cluster) and Defence Minister, YB\nDato\u2019 Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, yesterday, 10 Sept 2020, on the enforcement of\nthe Administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (\u201cEMCO\u201d) in the <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kota Setar district in Kedah,\nbeginning from today, 11 Sept 2020 until 25 Sept 2020 (Friday).&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the enforcement of EMCO will\naffect certain Court-related matters, please take note of the following\nimportant points.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>(1) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Closure of Mahkamah Alor Setar<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mahkamah Alor Setar is closed\nfrom<strong> 10 to 25 Sept 2020<\/strong> in line with\nthe EMCO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>(2) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; E-Review,\nFiling and Processing of Documents&nbsp; <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that civil cases by\ne-review, filing of documents for civil cases by e-filing, and the processing\nof documents of civil cases,<strong> will still\nproceed as usual<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>(3) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Case\nMentions \/ Trials \/ Part-Heard Trials for Civil and Criminal Cases <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Case mentions, trials, and\npart-heard trials for both civil and criminal cases that were scheduled during\nthe EMCO period, will be postponed to another date, as per the \u201cNotis\nPenjadualan Semula Kes-Kes Sambung Bicara \/ Bicara \/ Sebutan Mahkamah Sesyen\ndan Majistret (Sivil dan Jenayah)\u201d, which can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/document\/members\/circulars\/2020---2024\/2020%26rid=40235\">here<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/document\/members\/circulars\/2020---2024\/2020%26rid=40235\"> <\/a>(see\npage 3). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only newly-registered cases for\nmentions (criminal) and remand application will be heard at the Mahkamah Alor\nSetar during the EMCO period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please also take note of the\nfollowing points: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>All cases (<strong>except e-review cases<\/strong>) that have been\nscheduled to be heard before a Judge or Judicial Commissioner at Mahkamah\nTinggi 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Alor Setar High Court (Mahkamah Tinggi Alor Setar),\nwill be <strong>postponed<\/strong> to another date,\nwhich the Court will inform by notice. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>All cases (<strong>except\ne-review cases or by email<\/strong>) that have been scheduled to be heard before a\nDeputy Registrar or Senior Registrar of the Alor Setar High Court, will be <strong>postponed<\/strong> to another date, which the\nCourt will inform by notice. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Members are urged to check for the new dates through their <strong>CMS system-registered email address<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/document\/members\/circulars\/2020---2024\/2020%26rid=40235\">here <\/a>to view this notice (see page 4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>(4) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Duty\nRoster of Mahkamah Alor Setar Officials and Staff&nbsp; <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Please click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/document\/members\/circulars\/2020---2024\/2020%26rid=40235\">here<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/document\/members\/circulars\/2020---2024\/2020%26rid=40235\"> <\/a>to\nview the duty roster of the Mahkamah Alor Setar officials and staff for ongoing\nmatters at Mahkamah Alor Setar (see pages 5 to 10). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope that the information\nprovided here is of assistance to Members.&nbsp;\nWe sympathise with our Members who are facing a difficult time under the\nEMCO, and hope that the situation will soon pass.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>A\nG KALIDAS&nbsp; Secretary Malaysian Bar &nbsp;<\/h5>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please note that Kedah courts will be closed.
