{"id":4537,"date":"2017-01-25T17:07:03","date_gmt":"2017-01-25T09:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alexchanglaw.com\/?p=4537"},"modified":"2017-01-25T17:16:27","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T09:16:27","slug":"admission-bar-kau-hui-ni-winnie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alexchanglaw.com\/index.php\/admission-bar-kau-hui-ni-winnie\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission to the Bar of Kau Hui Ni Winnie Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Long Call"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur<br \/>\nBefore Her Ladyship DATO&#8217; NIK HASMAT BINTI NIK MOHAMAD<br \/>\nOn January 25, 2017<\/p>\n<p>If it pleases you,\u00a0 My Lady<br \/>\nAlex Chang Huey Wah appear for Your Petitioner and my learned friends representing the relevant bodies already have been introduced earlier, save and except for this petition Mr Ng Yih Miin will appear for the Selangor Bar.<\/p>\n<p>Your Petitioner is the eldest child of the charming\u00a0 couple Mr. Kau Kuan Fot and Madam Tan Poh Chu.\u00a0 (crave leave to introduce Your Petitioner&#8217;s parents)<\/p>\n<p>My Lady,<br \/>\nYour Petitioner\u00a0 was conferred a Bachelor of Laws, with honours, second class in the upper division from Cardiff University.<\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, she attended\u00a0 Nottingham Trent University for\u00a0 her Bar Professional Training Course and was admitted\u00a0 to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in November 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after that, Your Petitioner began her pupillage in Messrs Davis &amp; Low under the tutelage of my learned and good friend Dato\u2019 Davis Yee Fei Churn.<\/p>\n<p>My Lady<br \/>\nIt was\u00a0 the young\u00a0 Petitioner\u2019s dream to become a lawyer, this is what inspired her&#8230;<br \/>\n\u201cIt is the lawyers who run our civilization for us &#8212; our governments, our business, our private lives. Most legislators are lawyers; they make our laws.\u00a0 Most presidents, governors, commissioners, along with their advisers and brain-trusters are lawyers; they administer our laws. All the judges are lawyers; they interpret and enforce our laws. There is no separation of powers where the lawyers are concerned. There is only a concentration of all government power &#8212; in the lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>FRED RODELL, Woe Unto You, Lawyers\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is Your Petitioner\u2019s humble\u00a0 wish that she can speak for those who cannot speak for themselves,\u00a0 the poor and\u00a0 the needy.<\/p>\n<p>During her\u00a0\u00a0 pupillage, Your Petitioner was assigned to a non-governmental organisation, Tenaganita for her fourteen days of\u00a0 legal aid duty.\u00a0 She had the opportunity\u00a0 to help the migrants and foreign workers to fight for their rights. She was so moved that\u00a0 some of them did not receive their\u00a0 wages and that she could assist them.\u00a0 The\u00a0 satisfaction and happiness in helping them\u00a0 entrenched\u00a0\u00a0 her conviction\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 to becoming a lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>My Lady,<br \/>\nOn this memorable day, Your Petitioner seizes this opportunity to record her appreciation to her parents,\u00a0 in the journey of pursuing Your Petitioner\u2019s dream, there were times when she felt lost, stressed and almost wanted to give up.<\/p>\n<p>However, Your Petitioner is blessed to have parents who are\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 always by her side and ever willing to\u00a0 lend her an ear, giving\u00a0 her\u00a0 tender love and care, undivided financial and moral support.<\/p>\n<p>Your\u00a0 Petitioner&#8217;s humble hope is that her\u00a0 parents\u00a0 are proud of her achievement as the first lawyer in the family.<\/p>\n<p>Your Petitioner would also like to extend her gratitude to her\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 friends, Poh Kee, Yu Pei, Olivia, Yu Lie, Kimberly and her housemates back in Nottingham.\u00a0 They\u00a0 have always been there for her through all trials and tribulations\u00a0 and for giving her strength when she needed it\u00a0 most.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Your Petitioner would also like to convey her heartfelt appreciation to her master, Dato\u2019 Davis Yee for his invaluable guidance, patience and advice.<br \/>\nYour Petitioner told me that the essential value which she learnt from my learned friend\u00a0 Dato\u2019 Davis Yee is to be hardworking.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is no substitute for hard work\u2026 more reading, more research, more writing and more practices in your speeches\u00a0 to be a better lawyer\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Your Petitioner also expresses her gratitude to Ms. Farrahanie Yasmin the learned legal assistant of Dato\u2019 Davis Yee, for her\u00a0 guidance\u00a0 in\u00a0\u00a0 drafting skills,\u00a0 and of course\u00a0 all her colleagues in Messrs Davis &amp; Low, for creating an enjoyable working environment, making her time reading in chambers a meaningful and unforgettable one.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, the Petitioner would like to thank all her dedicated teachers, lecturers and tutors who have\u00a0 bestowed her invaluable knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>My Lady,<br \/>\nYour Petitioner is a fit and proper person to be admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. I believe that Your Petitioner\u2019s papers are in order and the relevant bodies have no objections. Wherefore I humbly pray that Your Petitioner be admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of High Court of Malaya.
