\nI, ALEX CHANG HUEY WAH, will appear for Your\u00a0 Petitioner, JOANNE HEE PIK YEE\u00a0 and\u00a0 my learned friend\u00a0 Madam Shazreen Nadia Zulklipli is appearing for\u00a0 the Attorney General’s Chambers she has already been introduced earlier, however\u00a0 Miss Rajewery Paramasevam will now be representing The Bar Council and\u00a0 the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee.<\/p>\n
My Lady,<\/p>\n
Your Petitioner was born in Kuantan\u00a0 and is the second child of the three children of her parents\u00a0 Mr. Hee Kang Wei and Madam Ho Lai Peng.\u00a0 They are\u00a0\u00a0 present with us this morning together with Your Petitioner\u2019s grandmother.\u00a0 I seek leave for them to be recognised.<\/p>\n
Your Petitioner was conferred a Bachelor of Laws Degree with\u00a0\u00a0 Honours from the University of London.\u00a0 Thereafter she obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in October 2015 on her first attempt.<\/p>\n
My Lady,<\/p>\n
When I asked Your Petitioner \u201cwhy do you want to be a lawyer?\u201d, Your Petitioner was candid\u00a0 to admit that it was never her dream to be one of us.\u00a0 Your Petitioner however, was hesitant to tell me the real answer to that question; not until two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
This, she said is \u201csomething really personal to her\u201d.<\/p>\n
I was told by Your Petitioner that her initial dream was to be a pathologist, this I am sure was inspired by the TV series CSI.
\nShe took\u00a0 law because of a promise she made to her late brother whose\u00a0 ultimate dream was to be a successful lawyer.\u00a0\u00a0 Your Petitioner\u00a0 will complete this journey for and on behalf of him.\u00a0 She hopes that her late brother whom she still feels closely connected to is\u00a0\u00a0 looking down now with pride and admiration.<\/p>\n
Your Petitioner read and completed her pupilage at\u00a0 Messrs Heiley Hassan, Tan & Partners under the\u00a0 tutelage\u00a0 of my learned friend,\u00a0 her pupil Master,\u00a0 Kingston Tan Esq. Your Petitioner would like to seize this opportunity to convey her heartfelt appreciation to her master,\u00a0\u00a0 for always offering her invaluable advice, wisdom and guidance and for always impelling\u00a0 her forward.\u00a0 Your Petitioner told me that she learnt a lot from her Master that no textbook and not even the\u00a0 Harvard Law School could have taught her.<\/p>\n
Above all, Your Petitioner would like to convey her\u00a0 gratitude to her parents\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Your Petitioner attributed her single attempt feat in her CLP examinations to the special attention she received from her mother\u00a0 during that period\u00a0 so that she could eat and rest well.<\/p>\n
To her father, who\u00a0 doesn\u2019t\u00a0 \u201cwear his heart on his sleeve\u201d,\u00a0 for always believing that she can do better.<\/p>\n
Your petitioner reminded not to forget to thank her younger brother, Justin\u00a0 who has always been her biggest fan.<\/p>\n

Your Petitioner has also impressed upon me to extend her gratitude to her best friends, Wong Kai Xin and Jodie Tang who have always been there for her through thick and thin and for giving her strength when she needed it the most and also\u00a0 her extended family members.<\/p>\n
Last but not least, Your Petitioner would like to take this opportunity to record her thanks to her fellow colleagues, peers and friends in the office for their willingness to share their knowledge and rendering help and support to Your Petitioner during her 9 months.<\/p>\n
Your Petitioner calls them the pieces of her puzzle, which somewhat helped to shape her into the person she is today.<\/p>\n

\nsince Your Petitioner is retained as a legal assistant by her pupil master, I would like to present her with a quote from Abraham Lincoln…<\/p>\n
“The leading rule for the lawyer, as for the man of every other calling, is diligence.\u00a0 Leave nothing for to-morrow\u00a0 which can be done to-day. Never let your correspondence fall behind. I verily believe that Your Petitioner\u2019s papers are in order, she is a fit and proper person to be admitted and enrolled, as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and the relevant bodies have no objections.<\/p>\n
