{"id":2068,"date":"2015-07-16T18:28:55","date_gmt":"2015-07-16T10:28:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alexchanglaw.com\/?p=2068"},"modified":"2015-09-04T13:26:54","modified_gmt":"2015-09-04T05:26:54","slug":"admission-ding-ming-shu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alexchanglaw.com\/index.php\/admission-ding-ming-shu\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission to the Bar of Mr Ding Ming Shu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Admission to the Malaysian Bar (Long Call) Speech<\/p>\n<p>Name:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DING MING SHU<br \/>\nDate:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 December 2, 2011<\/p>\n<p>Admission Speech of Mr DING MING SHU as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/alexchanglaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC06842_Alex_Chang_Four_admissions-365x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2062 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/alexchanglaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC06842_Alex_Chang_Four_admissions-365x300-300x247.jpg\" alt=\"DSC06842_Alex_Chang_Four_admissions-365x300\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a>On Dec 2, 2011, Alex moved four Admission Petitions\u00a0 for (L-R) Chuah Sui Cheing, Yeoh Khee Hing, Tan Eng<br \/>\nKeat and Ding Ming Shu<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If it pleases you, My Lord<\/p>\n<p>I, ALEX CHANG HUEY WAH, appear for the Petitioner, DING MING SHU and my learned friends representing the Attorney General, The Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee have already been introduced earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Deepinder Kaur will represent the Selangor bar instead of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee .<\/p>\n<p>If it so pleases Your Lordship, may I say a few words to\u00a0 introduce the Petitioner, DING MING SHU.<\/p>\n<p>My Lord, the Petitioner was born\u00a0 in Perak to Mr. Michael Ding Yung Hua and the late\u00a0 Madam Aik Sew Yik. The Petitioners&#8217; parents were both dedicated teachers by profession.<\/p>\n<p>My Lord, perhaps I should mention that Your Petitioner\u00a0 was a miracle\u00a0 baby.\u00a0 The\u00a0 doctors said that Mr Mrs Ding,\u00a0 should not be able to conceive this\u00a0 child.\u00a0 So he is the\u00a0 only child.<\/p>\n<p>His story reminds me of\u00a0 the &#8216;Curious Case of Benjamin Button&#8217; starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchette.<\/p>\n<p>The Petitioner received his early education in ACS, Sitiawan.<\/p>\n<p>Fishing is his hobby, I ask if he has found his mermaid, he said with a confident of course, he told me,\u00a0 it pays to have\u00a0 patience,\u00a0 his sweetheart is a fellow lawyer too.<\/p>\n<p>The Petitioner later read law\u00a0 at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in the\u00a0 United Kingdom, a small coastal town in Wales where there are more sheeps than homo sapiens.<\/p>\n<p>The Petitioner subsequently completed the Certificate in Legal Practice. The Petitioner then read and completed his pupilage in the chambers of Messrs Yap &amp; Company under the guidance of his Master, Mr. Johnston Yap.<\/p>\n<p>The Petitioner takes this opportunity to thank his family members, and friends, for taking the time off their busy schedules to be present here today.<\/p>\n<p>Above all, the Petitioner would like to convey his utmost gratitude to his parents as well as his stepmother for their unwavering love and support throughout the years, to ensure\u00a0 that the Petitioner had and will have\u00a0 the best in life.\u00a0 The Petitioner would not be where he is today if not for their undying love, understanding and sacrifices.<\/p>\n<p>The Petitioner would also like to convey his heartfelt appreciation to his master, Mr Johnston Yap for his invaluable guidance, patience and advice. The Petitioner must thank his superiors and colleagues for creating an enjoyable working environment, in Yap &amp; Company,\u00a0 in particular, the Petitioner\u00a0 would like record his gratitude to Ms. Pang Sy Fung and Mr. David Yap<\/p>\n<p>Further, The Petitioner would also like to record\u00a0 his gratitude to\u00a0\u00a0 to the Partners and\u00a0 colleagues at Messrs HL Lee &amp; Co whom he\u00a0 had the opportunity to work with during his four months&#8217; attachment at the firm.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, the Petitioner would like to thank all his dedicated teachers, lecturers and tutors who has bestowed invaluable knowledge to him throughout his studies.<\/p>\n<p>My Lord, I verily believe that all cause papers are\u00a0 in order and that the Petitioner is a fit and proper person.
