It\u00a0 is\u00a0 my\u00a0 pleasure to be one of the attachment students at\u00a0 Alex Chang & Co and a great\u00a0 opportunity to work with Mr Alex Chang Huey Wah.<\/p>\n

It was really exciting.\u00a0\u00a0 As a young lawyer,\u00a0 dealing with\u00a0 Mr Alex Chang\u00a0\u00a0 will be\u00a0 challenging as seniors think 5 to 7 steps ahead of\u00a0 us.<\/p>\n

Here I discovered the new meaning of\u00a0 Reading.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reading is our\u00a0 job and\u00a0 questions will be \u2018fired\u2019\u00a0 after reading\u00a0 and we\u00a0 must be prepared to answer all the questions.\u00a0\u00a0 Some questions will come when we are least expecting them.<\/p>\n

This reminded me about\u00a0 the question that Mr Chang\u00a0 asked\u00a0 before the commencement of my attachment.\u00a0 He\u00a0 gave me six generic words\u00a0 and granted\u00a0 me one day to prepare for the topic set by him.\u00a0 I have\u00a0 done a lot of research still,\u00a0 it was such a surprise when Mr Alex Chang asked me a question that I did\u00a0 not even think about\u00a0\u00a0 and I found myself dumbfounded.\u00a0 From that moment, I\u00a0 realised that a great lawyer like Mr Alex Chang will always think critically and from many angles.\u00a0 We must be able to apply the knowledge learned in the university to real life.<\/p>\n

Besides work\u00a0 Mr Alex Chang\u00a0 had tirelessly spruced\u00a0 up my language and gave me very good tips to improve.\u00a0\u00a0 He\u00a0 taught me how to think, talk and behave like\u00a0 a lawyer, be curious, seek and find solutions to all problems.<\/p>\n

My\u00a0\u00a0 working life was\u00a0 totally different from the university life.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 visited\u00a0 the Kuala Lumpur High Court and the Court of Appeal at the\u00a0 Palace of Justice, and saw part of \u00a0practice life. \u00a0 I found out about\u00a0\u00a0the process of filing documents,\u00a0<\/span>I<\/span> ha<\/span>d<\/span> the<\/span>opportunity<\/span> to<\/span> see<\/span> a<\/span> trial<\/span> cou<\/span>rt<\/span> in<\/span> Session<\/span> Court<\/span> too<\/span>.<\/span> It<\/span> was<\/span> exciting<\/span>\u00a0when<\/span> you<\/span> could<\/span>\u00a0see how<\/span> the<\/span> counsel\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0us<\/span>ed<\/span> \u00a0words<\/span> to<\/span> let<\/span> the<\/span> witnesses<\/span> to<\/span> speak<\/span> out<\/span> something<\/span> tha<\/span>t<\/span> is<\/span> in<\/span>advantag<\/span>e<\/span> of<\/span> your<\/span> side<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span> also had the chance to participate in a creditors\u2019 meeting in <\/span>Pejabat<\/span> Insolvency<\/span>. This was a rare cha<\/span>nce for an attachment student.<\/span> I<\/span> can<\/span> feel<\/span> butterflies<\/span> flying<\/span> in<\/span> my<\/span> stomach<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>The<\/span> official<\/span> receiver<\/span> is<\/span> very<\/span> clear<\/span> on<\/span> every<\/span> procedure<\/span> that<\/span> must<\/span> be<\/span> carried<\/span> out<\/span> during<\/span> the<\/span>process<\/span> o<\/span>f<\/span> winding<\/span> up<\/span> a<\/span> company<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides that, <\/span>I was invited by <\/span>Mr<\/span> Alex <\/span>Chang <\/span>to <\/span>attend his lecture as one of the lecturers at the Bar Co<\/span>uncil Ethics classes<\/span> tailored for the pupils in chamber.<\/span> It wa<\/span>s an eye-opener experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr<\/span> Alex<\/span> Chang<\/span>\u2019s lecture was very interesting and I had learned that a pupil has to be <\/span>prepared at every time. <\/span>This is because a pupil might be nominated by his or her lecturer <\/span>at any time for a short debate in the Ethic class. It will be fascinating if a pupil is able to answer the question asked fluently especially in front of all other pupils.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

I had the opportunity to have a short talk with the seniors who attend the Bar Cou<\/span>ncil Ethics class. They were willing to share their experience with me<\/span> and answered the questions asked. Before leaving, they also gave valuable advices to me. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

In Alex Chang and Co, I had observed the daily operation of a litigation firm besides than the legal work that I had done. It can be said that a lawyer and lawyer\u2019s colleagues\u2019 day will be always a busy day.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

In addition, the working environment in Alex Chan<\/span>g and Co is fun. Sometimes, the whole firm<\/span> will have<\/span> lunch toge<\/span>ther. This inevitably increased the relations<\/span>hip between <\/span>us. <\/span>Mr<\/span> Alex<\/span> Chang<\/span> also<\/span> organis<\/span>e<\/span>d<\/span> a karaoke session at<\/span> the Royal Lake Club<\/span>. All of us enjoyed the food, drinks and songs there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last but not least<\/span>, I would like to thank <\/span>Mr<\/span> Alex Chang <\/span>for his guidance and to my colleagues for their help. I really appreciate them <\/span>in making my summer holiday <\/span>more <\/span>meaningful.<\/span><\/p>\n
