Paintball Fellowship Event Orgainized by the Rotaract Club of Pudu
Venue: Malaysian Paintball Academy,  Astaka Sports Complex
Date: 2nd May 2011
By: Timothy Danker

The Rotaract Club of Pudu organized a paintball fellowship
tournament on the recent Labour Day
public holiday. The event was held together with fellow Rotarians
from the Rotary Club of Pudu, Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of
Pudu as well as their guests.  The objective of the event was  to
foster fellowship among Rotarians and Rotaractors.

The event kicked off at approximately 8.30am at the Malaysian
Paintball Academy which is located in Petaling Jaya. There were 31
eagerly trigger-happy participants ready for the first game of the
tournament to began.  Among the Rotarians (and family) that were
present were Rotary OC Rtn Alex Chang (together with Sean)
current Rotary Club of Pudu President Leong Choy Ying, PE Steven
Oon, VP C T Heng, IPP Robin Tay (together with Yen), Rtn Jeffery
Yap, Rtn Yeap Kim Hock, as well as PP KU Rajah.

The Guest of Honor for the event was District Governor Lim Kok
Beng.

Before the participants got dirty in the paintball field, a short briefing
was held by a representative from the Malaysian Paintball Academy.
The briefing focused on the rules of the game, the use of the
equipment as well as personal and team members' safety. The
Rotarians and Rotaractors were then split into six groups
compromising of 5 to 6 members each.  Each participant was given
their own safety mask for hygiene purposes.   The first game of the
tournament between Group 3 and 4 was then flagged off by our
Guest of Honor, District Governor Lim Kok Beng.

Each game lasted about 5-6 minutes or until the ‘Flag’ was  captured
or all the team members were eliminated  whichever was the earlier.

After multiple rounds of flying paint pellets, running in the muddy field,
the participants were given a 10 minutes break while four top Groups
were chosen to enter the semifinals. The final match was
between Group 2 and 5.  DG Lim Kok Beng’s group, which was
Group 2, emerged as champions of the tournament. The fast and
thrilling tournament   ended as the tired and aching participants
gathered together at the waiting area to exchange their experience in
the paintball field.  The participants were then treated to a sumptuous
meal of nasi lemak and roti canai, which was generously sponsored
by Rtn Yeap Kim Hock and the drinks sponsored by President Leong
Choy Ying (although they could not join us for the game).

The paintball fellowship tournament event ended at 11.30 am, after a
short prize presentation ceremony to the DG's team by Pres Leong.
The event is yet another successful and happy   fellowship event
which was organized by the Rotaract Club of Pudu to bond the ties
among its members as well as with their fellow Rotarians.
