Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya
BEFORE TUAN ABANG ISKANDAR BIN ABANG HASHIM
(RKKK 1)
If it pleases you My Lord Alex Chang Huey Wah, appear
for your humble petitioner Nicholas Ng Kok Meng.
The relevant bodies have already been introduced.
My Lord, allow me a few minutes to introduce your
Petitioner, Nicholas Ng Kok Meng to all concerned.
1 The Petitioner was born in Kuala Lumpur on
02.04.1984 and is the third child of the late Mr. Freddie Ng
and Madam Stephanie Yeap.
2 The Petitioner completed LLB from the University of
Sheffield with a 2nd Lower Class in 2006, LLM in
International Legal Studies at the University of Sheffield in
2008, he obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice in 2010.
3 ML, allow me to say a thing or two about YP.
3.1 Besides being a lawyer he is a free lance writer.
3.2 He writes for the magazines like ‘Dream Catcher’
and “Juice”. “Juice” is a magazine with many very juicy
stories.
4 An interesting chapter about his life in England. In
his university, there is a 1000-member strong club.
4.1 I asked, was it the Fitness Club? No he said.
4.2 Malaysian Singaporean Society? Of course not
he said.
4.3 It was the CHINESE SOCIETY, 1000 members.
70% ladies, he WAS the cutest guy, the President.
4.4 My Lord to show his perseverance in pursing his
Presidency, as he is a non Mandarin speaker he had to
use the help of an interpreter, and of course, it is easier to
find one amongst the 70%. So much for England.
5 Subsequently, Your Petitioner undertook his
pupillage at Messrs Albar & Partners under the tutelage of
Ms. Junaidah Abdul Rahman and was exposed to the
workings of the different areas of law such as banking,
corporate and litigation.
6 The Petitioner had to overcome many challenges
in order to be where he is at today. For this, he would like
to thank his late father who has been a beacon of integrity
and inspiration to him. He would also like to thank his
mother who supported him throughout his journey in his
legal career with love and affection. The Petitioner would
also like to thank his best friends Li Hoong and Jason who
gave him free legal advice, and also the rest of his friends
who have always been there to support him, through thick
and thin.
6.1 My Lord Your Petitioner told me that there were
probably more thick than thin.
7 The petitioner would also like to thank his pupil
Mistress Ms. Junaidah Abdul Rahman for her endless
guidance, teaching and support throughout his pupillage at
Messrs Albar & Partners. He would also like to show his
appreciation and gratitude to all the other partners and
lawyers at Messrs Albar and Partners for their patience and
time in ensuring the Petitioner had a good understanding
of the law. He would also like to thank his fellow pupils who
made his pupillage great, which he will never forget.
7.1 My Lord I guess no one really forgets their 9
months of honey moon.
8 My Lord, the Petitioner is a fit and proper person to
be admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of
the High Court of Malaya. The Petitioner’s papers are in
order and there are no objection from the relevant parties to
this Petition.
9 I therefore humbly pray that the Petitioner be
admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the
High Court of Malaya.
10 (The relevant parties will say they have no
objection and Judge will give order)
11 My Lord, the Petitioner’s pupil mistress, Ms.
Junaidah Abdul Rahman tenders her apologies for not
being able to be present in Court today. May I humbly
request for Your Lordship indulgence for me to robe the
Petitioner.
